Here’s the trailer for South African director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming film, District 9. (HD version)

The film is set in South Africa and tells the story of a race of aliens who after showing up on Earth are forced to live in quarantine from society. It’s shot in the ever-popular vérité style, a la The Shield or Battlestar Galactica, although framed in an alternate history as a documentary. The couple of effects shots from the trailer look gorgeous and convincing. I hope they can extend that into a whole, cohesive film. It’s style actually reminds me of the Escape from City 17 short from a few months ago.

from nerdology:

New Behemoth Game I’m glad there are some companies still committed to the sidescroller.  The makers of Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers tease their new game with this video. Whatever this game is I’m excited for it.

Castle Crashers is a blast. It’s still played from time to time at our house when there are people over. And that’s saying something, considering we’re all Rock Band freaks.

Watchmen.

Does anyone else think Ozymandias kind of looks like a sissy?

I’ve decided, upon hearing the news that the first Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer was released, I’m not going to intentionally watch any more trailers for movies I already want to see. Shouldn’t be too difficult to do.

I wish I could do the same for games, but refraining from reading the previews is too difficult for me. Games are just too expensive to do that… I guess if I had GameFly or something I could get away with it, but I play so few games that GameFly makes no sense.

We’ll see how my No More Trailers experiment shakes out.
